FAQ

Safety is and always has been a top priority at DragCon. At DragCon all attendees will need to go through security before entering the Convention Center. This includes a bag check and passing through a metal detector. We recommend that you pack light, and don’t wear any metal, in order for security to move quickly and efficiently. If you leave the Convention Center, you will be required to go through security before re-entering.

All attendees must wear their DragCon badge at all times during the weekend.

Security

  • Bags – 18 L sized bags or smaller (roughly 1000 cubic inches or 10” x 10” x 10”)
  • Strollers
  • Handheld still & video cameras
  • Sealed water bottles
  • Hand sanitizer

Allowed Items:

  • No E-Cigs or Vaping devices
  • Professional video equipment. Recording on mobile devices is allowed.
  • Tripods or monopods
  • Drones or any other remote flying device
  • Totems, Flags, Banners
  • Silly String
  • Coolers of any kind (exceptions may be made for medical use)
  • Bags larger than 18 L (roughly 1000 cubic inches or 10” x 10” x 10”)
  • Firearms, explosives, and weapons of any kind (including pocket knives, pepper spray, fireworks, etc)
  • Illegal and Illicit substances of any kind
  • Pets (except for service animals)
  • Skateboards, scooters, bicycles, or any personal motorized vehicles
  • Unauthorized/unlicensed vendors are not allowed.
  • No unauthorized solicitation and materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, giveaways, samples, etc.

Not Allowed Items:

COVID

All attendees 5 years and older must provide proof of up-to-date vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test upon entry into the venue(taken within 48 hours of walking through the doors). Please note: if you are going to be showing test results for entry, and are attending for multiple days, you may need to re-test in order to comply with the 48 hour window requirements.

At home tests will not be accepted.

DragCon uses the CDC's definition of up-to-date vaccination, which currently states you are fully vaccinated when you have received all doses in the primary series and one booster when eligible. Details can be found on the CDC website.

If an attendee does not have a vaccination card or negative test with them upon arrival, they may utilize on-site COVID testing to gain proof of negative test. On-site testing is $50 per test and must be paid for via cash or Venmo. Wait time is 10 minutes for results. If an attendee tests positive on-site, they will not be allowed entry to the event.

As of now, masks are optional but recommended - however, vendor and talent booths may have their own rules in place that require masks for shopping/M&G’s. DragCon will provide masks on site for attendees who are in need of them.

DragCon's first priority is always the health and safety of everyone involved. Given how quickly information and safety requirements surrounding COVID-19 change, our guidelines are subject to change.

Refusal to cooperate with these procedures on site will result in ejection from the venue without refund.

Drag Is Not Consent

RuPaul’s DragCon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone (regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion). We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention (without a refund) at the discretion of the convention organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion), sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Exhibitors in the hall, sponsors, exhibitors, or similar activities are also subject to the anti-harassment policy.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the convention organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the convention (with no refund). If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of DragCon staff immediately or security. (DragCon staff can be identified by special badges and pink shirts).

We expect participants to follow these rules at all convention venues and convention-related social events.

ADA Information

RuPaul’s DragCon is dedicated to serving all of its attendees and making their experience as enjoyable and entertaining as possible. If you are an attendee with disabilities, RuPaul’s DragCon has implemented the following policies in order to provide you the best service possible.

Attendee Registration
When you arrive to register, please go to the VIP/ADA registration area and ask for the Accessible (ADA) staff member to exchange names and phone numbers of your party. You will receive Accessible (ADA) wristbands, which will allow you access to Accessible routes located throughout DragCon, as well as information and directions on how to navigate the floor. Please note that the registration line is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please be patient. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask the Accessible ADA staff registration member.

Panel Room Seating
In every panel room, a portion of the seating is reserved for attendees with disabilities or mobility issues. Look for the line attendants for direction to an accessible route and waiting area. Keep in mind that these areas are on a first-come, first-serve basis.  These seats will be kept open until five minutes before the start of the panel. Please note that our panels can, and will, reach capacity, and reserved seats may be filled. Give yourself a proper time cushion (we recommend at least 10 minutes before the panel starts). It is highly recommended that you do not wait until the last minute to arrive at a panel room, and seating is not guaranteed.

Wheelchairs
Motorized Mobility Devices may be used by people with mobility impairments subject to reasonable safety restrictions (e.g. exercising extra caution in busy locations such as loading docks and show floors during move-in and move-out periods).

American Sign Language
American Sign Language interpreters will be available for the panels on a first-come, first-serve basis. ASL interpreters will be on hand for panels throughout the weekend. In LA, they are located on the second level, next to Compass Café, before the panel room hallways. You will need to request Interpreters before you proceed to the panel, prior to their start.  Remember that this service is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Plan ahead and give yourself a proper time to enjoy your panel.

Guide Dogs and Service Animals
Service Animals (i.e. dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities) are welcome at the Los Angeles Convention Center & Javits Center — provided they are leashed or under similar control as appropriate. Please see the convention center's websites for detailed information and restrictions.

Autograph Lines
When you arrive at an autograph line, please notify the line monitor, and they will accommodate your line entry. Please note that this access does not guarantee a “no wait” time as autographs will be delivered on a first come, first serve bases. This access is provided to minimize navigation through lines.

Medication
If you have medication or special needs that needs refrigeration, please be aware that neither RuPaul’s DragCon can provide refrigerators. You should bring a cooler or insulated bag to accommodate your own needs.

Please take care to plan your day in advance.

Please keep in mind that RuPaul’s DragCon cannot guarantee any seating, autographs, or giveaways.
